Baker for Thomasville is a political movement led by Royal Baker, a businessman and native of Thomasville, Georgia who is running for city council in 2023.

 

"My mission is to bring positive change to our community, by promoting transparency, accountability, and smart decision making in local government. My wife Marjorie and I are proud to live in and raise our daughters in Thomasville. My dad was a forester here, and I spent summers working for him in the woods. I know what it’s like to work for yourself and work hard. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Finance, I returned to Thomasville and was a local banker for 10 years. During that time, I realized my passion for real estate and helping people find a place to call home. I ultimately went full time in real estate in 2018. Today, I am a realtor and property manager. I know what it’s like to work hard, and I respect that in my friends and neighbors.

 

"As a business owner and a father, I know first-hand how policies like new taxes, zoning and business permitting systems impact regular folks in the real world.

"Running for office isn't what I ever expected to do, but I believe if we want to see change and smart decisions, someone has to step up to the plate to serve. Every one of us in Thomasville deserves to have our voice heard.

 

"I am committed to representing the interests of all members of our community, and I will work my hardest to bring common sense planning to our town so we can continue to prosper while providing new opportunities to people and keeping Thomasville special!"
